Perelada

Peralada is an important fortified medieval town with several noteworthy buildings and a perfectly intact Roman bridge. The impressive castle, for many centuries the residence of the Rocaberti family, has a beautiful park featuring a small lake with swans.

The crenalated walls are fourteenth-century in origin, but the Renaissance palace has been added to over the years, and houses a good collection of old Flemish carpets and an 80,000-volume library, part of which is open to the public. Tomas de Rocaberti, count of Perelada and up to then Spanish Ambassador in Paris, created the library in the year 1888.

He and his brother Antoni de Rocaberti, count of Zavella, also maintained a school for theatre and music. This wonderful period ended too soon, however, with the death of the two brothers at the end of the 19th century. They did not leave any descendants. Read more »

lawyer in Tossa del Mar

Tossa del Mar

Earliest history has it that , in 1236, a preaching Friar (Ramon de Penyafort) arrived at Tossa de Mar and legend says that the rocks opened so that he could land on the beach.

I couldn’t find the date the castle walls and towers were begun. The fortifications were put in place as a response to raiders from North Africa. A sharp lookout was kept and signals sent out in the event of a raid …whereupon the townsfolk would gather inside the walls.. Local fisherman paid “tribute” (known as “castellatge of peix”) to the owner of the castle and thus ensured their defence.

Spanish Chamber of Commerce

As per English speaking efficient accountant in Marbella, Ms. Sara Duarte Davison, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce is a Public Right Corporation which is legally bound as an advisory body and collaborator with all the Public Authorities and its main aim is to represent, promote and defend the general interest of the Spanish Trade, Industry and Navigation as well as to provide their services to businesses which are engaged in the above activities. Each local Spanish Chamber tries to collaborate with the local businesses by providing them with information and guidance to enable them to improve, grow and support the export of products amongst other services.

By Spanish law all self-employed entrepreneurs and businesses have to settle an annual fee which is linked to the IAE (Business Activity Tax- Impuesto sobre Actividades Económicas). The opposition from some taxpayers to the compulsory member’s fee grew as many entrepreneurs felt that they were not obtaining any benefit from the Chamber and strongly suggested for the membership to be voluntary.

On the 3rd of December 2010 it was published at the Official Spanish State Gazette the RD Law 13/2010 which modified the previous Law 3/1993 stating that the membership to the Chamber of Commerce will be voluntary and therefore also its fees.

Lawyer in Manilva, accountant in Manilva

Manilva Sunset

Manilva has previously been both a Roman and a Moorish settlement however the current town dates back to the mid-16 century when King Charles ordered the building of a watch tower to warn of attacks from the Barbary pirates who were persistent in tormenting the southern coast of Spain. By the end of the century a small community had collected around the tower and was located within the Municipality of Casares in 1976 it was given its autonomy and own Villa status.
It has remained mainly Spanish in character and atmosphere, as most of the English and other sizeable nationalities prefer to be on the coast (approx 2 km away) , it therefore still recognises the siesta period where time seems to stand still.
The largest building, the Iglesia de Santa Ana, replaced the original church in the 18 century after its predecessor was destroyed by an earthquake. Read more »
